Happy Father’s Day!
This year has been a little strange for Blair and I. What with Mother’s day just a month or so ago, and with Father’s day being today, we haven’t really been sure where we stand with our little one on her way, but not quite here. On Mother’s day, Blair made me a nice breakfast, and today I made Blair a breakfast. (I’m not going to go as far as calling it nice…) I’ll just say I can’t wait for the day when we have little ones wanting to do something special for their daddy and we can really get into these holidays.
I’ve been thinking about my own Father a lot today (when I wasn’t sleeping for 3 hours…) and just want to say that I’m so lucky to have had such a wonderful Dad. He’s always worked so very hard to keep us kids on the right track, and to support us in all that we did, whether by providing for our physical needs working countless overtime hours, or being there for us emotionally. He was always a very involved Dad. I remember during those times when the overtime at work was getting a little crazy, I would find reasons to tag along with him to far away Ward Conferences just so that we could have some good ‘talk-time’ in the car. He was always so interested in my life…who I was dating…my friends…school…everything, and I always knew I could talk to him about all those things and know that he really cared.
I remember the day my Dad met Blair. I think it’s safe to say that Dad knew he wanted me to marry Blair before I knew I wanted to marry him. (I mean, come on, it was date 2!) I think the fact that Blair had 1. Graduated from BYU, 2. went to Paris, France on his mission, and 3. was a Dental Student kinda helped… When I got home from that date, dad came up to me as I was sitting in the office on the computer and said “So, you’re gonna marry this guy, right?” I laughed. My dad has always wanted the best for me, and he just knew right away that Blair was just that. I’m just so happy that my life has turned out the way it has, so far, and I can’t help but attribute a lot of that to the amazing Father that I had.
A new tradition
So, how long does it take to make something a tradition? For the last 3 Sundays, Blair has spent the afternoon making French Bread. I think that’s probably enough to call it a tradition. He just loves making…anything, really. Especially bread. So while I take my Sunday nap, Blair is in the kitchen making bread. Does it get any better than that? I definitely lucked out…
Here’s a picture of today’s loaf:
My wonderful husband!
Can I just brag a little bit? I married one of the most sincere, loving, and smart people I know. Blair just finished his Junior year, and now that the Seniors have officially graduated, we can call him a Senior! I’m so proud of him (well pleased, I should say…) and sometimes I forget how lucky I am to have him. He aced Oral Path this year, and I just couldn’t be more happy for him.
We are so happy to be in the final stretch and have our own graduation within reach. Congrats to all those who graduated this year!
