My Birthday…

Well, since my REAL birthday (which was yesterday, July 28th) really pretty much sucked, I’m going to start by telling you about my birthday celebrations on Saturday.

When mom said “If you come to Richmond, we’ll watch Cami while you and Blair go to a movie,” the decision was made! We love our little Cami, but the prospect of getting away from her for a few hours was too much to pass up…especially seeing as it was so near my Birthday. So, we ended up going to Red Lobster for lunch. We sat outside the doors until the second they opened at 11 so that we could make the first showtime of Dark Knight. While we had no intentions of ordering the (almost) most expensive thing on the menu, we did. :) We ordered the King Crab Legs, and when our server brought out the Snow Crab Legs, Blair was able to call on his many hours of Deadliest Catch watching (ok, I watched those many hours, too, but I guess I didn’t pay as close attention) and he recognized the enormous size difference. When she realized her mistake and fixed it, she threw in an extra half pound because of the mix up. We definitely couldn’t complain after that! She even got us in and out fast enough to barely make our movie!

Need I even comment about Dark Knight? Just go see it. It’s incredible.

So, just a few hours after we got back was when I started feeling a little different. You know those aches you get when a fever is coming on? That started around 5pm that night. It kept getting worse, and by the time we got home, and I took my temp, it was up to just over 100. I took some Tylenol and went to bed, and by the time the Tylenol wore off, it was up over 101. Sunday, if anyone wondered where Blair was at church…he was taking care of Both his girls. Mom with a high fever and the ‘aches and shakes’ as I like to call them, and Cami with her…well, newborn needs, of course. Then comes Monday, My birthday. By the time I woke up, I had missed my next dose of Tylenol, and my fever hit its peek at 103.7. I bet at least half of those reading this post already know what the problem was/is. I’ll give you a hint. Cami likes to use me as a pacifier, and I tend to let her, unless it hurts. Oops. Anyway, I went in, got an antibiotic, and now I’m just dealing with a high-fever hangover. My head really hurts, but at least the fever is gone. Yay! Hopefully the problem will clear up soon.

I type this all up mainly so that I have a record of it. My blog is pretty much my journal, since I finally gave up on journaling. Don’t feel bad for me, really. From what I hear, more people have this problem than don’t, so I guess it’s just part of the game of being a mom. I’m really lucky that I had enough people that heard about my fever with no other symptoms and recognized what it probably was, and urged me to see the doctor. I was able to catch the problem REALLY early, and so it shouldn’t have a chance to get all that bad. Thank goodness.

OH! Blair got me Guitar Hero for the PC for my birthday!!! YAY!!! I can’t wait to try it out. I’m gonna have to wait until this headache subsides, though…

Sorry no pictures…

Blair’s birthday celebrations!

Well, it’s been a fun few days! Blair turned 27 on Friday, and he’s said it’s been one of his best. The celebrations really started Thursday night. I was able to secure us a Mystery Shop that would allow us to go to a movie sometime during the week. We decided to do that on Thursday night and went to see the new Indiana Jones movie.

Friday morning I got up a little bit early to go pick up donuts from our favorite donut place: Donut Kastle on Lyndon Ln. I had to order his favorite kind the day before cause you never know which ones they will have available at any given time.

For gifts I had saved up some Mturk money (go to www.mturk.com if you’re wondering) so I was able to spluge a little past our gift budget. I got him Call of Duty 4 for the PC and the Weber: Real Grilling book that he’s been eying in the bookstore.

After work, we went to pick up the ice cream cake that I had ordered from DQ. Not that we needed more treats, but hey…it was his birthday!

Friday night we went out to eat at Famous Dave’s. If you haven’t been there, and you like real, slow cooked BBQ, then you’ll love this place. Make sure they know it’s your first time, and they’ll give you a free bottle of BBQ sauce. (At least they did for us…) Best ribs EVER!

Saturday we got up early (well, early for a Saturday) and started the day off with a walk in the park. We wanted to check the grills at the pavilion to see what we’d need to do to prepare for later in the evening. After the walk, we got to cleaning our apartment for company. My family was coming in for the BBQ later that night and were planning on staying the night. Thank goodness they come every so often so that our apartment can get a real good cleaning. (No, that’s not the ONLY time we clean…but you know what I’m saying) We got that done in record timing and headed out to get all the goods for the BBQ.

While at Wal*mart, Blair got a little distracted in the outdoor department and couldn’t take his eyes off a mini-smoker. If anyone knows Blair, they know that one of his favorite things to do/read about/talk about/think about is grilling/bbqing/smoking. So I found a comfy place to sit while he debated whether to spend his birthday money on it or not. About 30 minutes later, we walked out of Wal*mart with a brand new smoker. He couldn’t be more excited. Don’t tell management!

Around 5 we headed to the park with all our stuff. Lo and behold, there was another group in the pavilion that I had reserved for the occasion, and we had to be ogre’s and ask them to leave. Good thing they were pretty cool about it, cause I had left the permit at work, and was not wanting to have to go get it so I could prove that we had reserved it. About 6pm, people started showing up and Blair got to grilling the burgers and hot dogs for everyone. It was the most perfect day, and we had a lot of fun. Thanks to all who were able to make it!

Now it’s Sunday, and after another perfectly beautiful day, all I can say is that I am just so excited that we still have another day off tomorrow! Yay for Memorial Day!
